Model / LOW-10

Name / Laser Type Oil Film Detector Apolarm H (LOW-10)

description/

Laser scanning type oil film detector LOW-10 uses a property that reflectance of oils is greater than that of water. It is a laser light reflection oil film detection system which emits a semiconductor laser beam to scan a water surface, catch changes in its reflection intensity, and detect floating oil films.

This system is installed in water storage facilities of pumped hydraulic power plants with large draft variation, oil water separation facilities, and locations predicted to have oil outflows in drain ditches, manholes, water supply reservoirs, water storage reservoirs, and dams. It can detect oil films without contacting nor adjustment even for water level fluctuations of 1 to 10 m from the detector.

Features/

Salient features

Stable detection performance

(1) Fast random laser light emission to scan water surfaces has greatly improved the probability that the reflected light returns.
(2) Optical axis verticality maintaining mechanism for keeping the optical system to be vertical is used to accurately receive the laser reflected light.
(3) Many photodetectors are mounted to receive all lights reflected from water surfaces without missing.
(4) Modulation lights and optical filters are used to remove disturbance lights other than laser light.

These technical developments in (1) to (4) support water level fluctuations at a height of 10 m from the water surface to the detector.

Easy installation and maintenance

(1) Optical axis verticality maintaining mechanism implements stable detection performance and eliminates the necessity of optical axis adjustment, facilitating the installation.

(2) Modularized semiconductor laser is removable, so that the user can open the detector cover to easily replace the laser.

Special functionality

This equipment is provided with a soft start function to enable start of monitoring under low-temperature environments.

If the equipment is turned on after being placed under a low-temperature environment (-20°C to 0°C) for long hours, the soft start function will be activated to increase the temperature inside the equipment to an operable temperature, starting monitoring. This function does not operate at 0°C or higher.
